Yá'át'ééh from Coppermine, Arizona, near Page!. We are Allen and Kelly Fowler and family and we want to thank you for visiting our website.
Allen grew up close by. His father was a spiritual man, though not a Christian. As a leader in the Native American Church (a group that use
s peyote in its services), Allen's father was often away from home caring for the needs of his flock. This planted a concept of ministry in Allen's mind that remains to this day.
Kelly is the granddaughter of a Seventh-day Adventist pastor. But God Himself has no grandchildren. We are His own child or we are not His. As a child Kelly was surrounded by spiritual advantages, and yet she gave her heart to God in her own time. This is not something you can simply inherit.
Allen and Kelly met in Page, married, moved away, and lived for a number of years in Tennessee. That's where Allen came to know Christ. Over time God laid a heavy burden on his heart to return. He had learned things that his people needed to hear, and he could no longer keep these things to himself. Together God put in Allen and Kelly's hearts the idea of establishing Diné Outreach.
If you still think that "foreign missionary" is one word, trust me, it's not. There's nothing foreign about mission when you allow yourself to see the needs of people all around you. Our purpose is to meet the needs our people actually have - like clothing, housing, water, and most of all a knowledge of Christ.
In regard to spiritual things, the Navajo People (Diné) in the Coppermine area are very traditional and the area has been virtually untouched by Christianity. Our outreach is not to Christians of other denominations. It's to people who don't know Jesus at all.
On this website you can see some of the things we're doing. Please join us in our ministry to the Navajo People. We see our task, not as bringing people to Christ, but as bringing Christ to people - where they are. Here. At Coppermine, Arizona.
